Family and Friends

Support from Family and Friends is a key ingredient to success. Without the support and help we receive from family I am not sure how I could survive some days. I learned very early on with two kids that going anywhere by myself was not an option. Landon needs 1-1 attention no matter where we are and Quinn is still a baby who also requires 1-1 attention. From the moment Quinn was born and my husband went back to work my mom has been there to help me out. She ventures out with us during the week to help go to therapy, to the store, or a fun outing to the museum or the zoo. I would never dare go to some of these places by myself. There is the occasional run to the grocery store or therapy that I can handle solo. But it better be quick and I better have 3 different plans before I even leave the house.

At first I was embarrassed because I figured people would judge me for having my mom with me everywhere we went. But after a few run away attempts by Landon I knew if I did not want to hide inside my house forever I needed the help my mother has always offered. Now I am not afraid to ask for help. My parents have been very helpful and have offered their support in many different ways. Family members have had some kind and encouraging words for Ben and I and we appreciate it. It brings joy to my heart to hear family members are going out and reading articles, blogs, books, and educating themselves on Autism. The help that is offered is wonderful and we thank those that have taken time out of their lives to babysit Quinn, take Landon to therapy or attended a doctor’s office visit with me.

There are times in life where we have to accept the help and know that people truly care. Actions do speak louder than words. In the repetitive words of Landon; "Thank You, Your Welcome!"
