As we approach Quinn's 1st birthday we were advised to have her allergy tested again. I decided to take her to Children's satellite facility in New Lenox. We have seen a few other doctors there and heard the allergist was great. So I made an appointment for the 1st Monday we were back from Florida. They advised me this appointment would take 3 hours and they were NOT kidding. I came prepared with bottles, food, and toys to entertain. Quinn was skin tested again for: milk, wheat, soy, egg (whites) and peanuts. The test was done on her arm and just a few at a time. They wanted to make sure the test was as accurate as possible and the food oils did not touch or mix. 2 hours later and we find out that we have an "Allergic Reaction Free" baby! She did not test positive on any of those. Now here is the kicker, Quinn still has some sort of negative reaction to milk and soy. Confusing, YES! After an extensive talk with the doctor we had been advised to make an appointment with the GI doctor and have some blood work drawn to check for ALL areas of concern and possibilities. I decided to hold off on torturing her with blood work until I know exactly what the GI would like to do. So with that test being said we can slowly introduce finger foods that would contain low amounts of soybean oil and soy bi-products. One new food at a time, watch for a reaction, and then move on. First on the list: saltine crackers!
Quinn has an appointment to see the ENT doctor for a nasal scope on Monday and a GI appointment on May 1st. Hoping for a few more answers for our little girl!!
