Quinn's GI Appointment!

As we all are aware our baby girl has something wrong with her GI system. At the age of 1 she is still on baby food (puree) Stage 2 foods along with Elecare Formula. We have done our best to work her onto table food, sippe cups, and more textured foods. We were asked to wait to see the GI again at the age of 1. Yesterday was Quinn's big appointment and I did not go as prepared as I think I needed to be. Our little peanut is just not growing; she is only 17lbs and 28 inches. Quinn is considered to be in the 2.5% for her weight. At this point she is considered Failure to Thrive. The GI doctor is very concerned since Quinn is getting calories but for some reason her body is not absorbing them. I could hear the sense of urgency in his voice as he stated she needs to be evaluated by the Feeding Therapy team down in the city. He then talked about a possible feeding tube, sweat test for CF, bowel samples, and blood work. WOW! I was just hit with a lot of scary words and have no idea what to expect. He made sure that all my appointments were made ASAP and before out walked out the door. Luckily our little girl filled her first stool sample before we left! I texted Ben and my mom to inform them of what was going on. Not realizing what we may all have in store for us. Quinn will be evaluated by a Feeding Team down at Lurie's Children's Hospital in the city on May 15th. She will also have a sweat test conducted to check and rule out Cystic Fibrosis.

As any mother would as I walked out of the office, called Ben, I started to cry. My poor baby girl, what could be going on!? I want nothing but to help her and make her feel better. I will take her anywhere to have doctors look at her and evaluate her. Thankfully we live in a great city and Lurie's a top rated Children's Hospital. The doctors and staff are kind and full of information. I am thankful for the way they care for my children!

I continue to work with Quinn and Landon daily on the areas they are delayed in. I am proud to see the accomplishments they have made thus far! Our baby girl is saying two words: mama and baba! Her doctors and therapist are proud of that accomplishment! As her mama I am proud of my children every day. I may worry about them 24/7 but I wouldn't have it any other way!
