The Top Left reaction is Peanuts and the #1 underneath is Cats! |
At the end of it test 3 of the spots had allergic reactions. Two of them were peanuts and the other one was Cats. Landon only came up positive for peanuts and not tree nuts (ie, almonds, walnuts, hazelnut's, etc.). After the test the allergist came back in and explained the correct things to do for Landon. He does show signs of having asthma so we went through the plan on what we will do to help relieve some his daily asthma symptoms. He is now on a twice a day inhaler as well as an as needed inhaler.
The doctor then discussed the Cat allergy. Cat dander is the stickiest of pet danders and can live in carpet, drapery, and furniture for up to 10 years! YIKES! There may have been a possibility of a cat once living in our home that we now own. With that being said we are getting confirmation before looking to replace all the carpet. Nana and I immediately ran out and got a few HEPA air machines to help with any cat dander that may be still lingering around the house. Especially in Landon's room.
We now have an asthma and peanut allergy plan in place for school and he will travel will an epi-pen as well. Because his lungs are not the greatest we need to be prepared for any serious allergic reaction to both peanuts and cats.
Landon did a great job at the allergist even though we were there for 2 hours! He will have to go back in a year and be re-tested for these two allergies plus any added new ones. Quinn will also need to be re-tested at 2 for both of these allergies as well since siblings have a 20% change of having the same allergies.
