One of Landon's sensory concerns has to do with his eating.
Our little man only eats certain foods and introducing new foods can be very
challenging. Landon's daily diet consists of:
1. Goldfish
2. Cheerio’s
3. Gorilla Munch (Gluten Free) (his Kix replacement)
4. Honey Chex (Gluten Free)
5. Fruit Snacks or Fruit Strips
6. Blueberry Muffins
7. French Fries
8. Pancakes
Landon has no interest in fruits, vegetables or meats. He
will drink either juice or Pediasure. He use to drink milk but no longer has
any interest in that. As an infant Landon would eat a variety of baby foods and
prior to 18 months Landon would try and eat other foods. Landon use to eat:
1. Cheese
2. Pizza
3. Apples
4. Watermelon
5. Pasta
6. Crackers
7. Waffles
8. Lunch Meat
We have heard that a Gluten Free diet could provide some
behavioral changes in Landon. We did some research to find some gluten free
options for Landon. We went to Whole Foods to buy a mix to make our own
blueberry muffins and pancakes (Gluten Free). We introduced a few gluten free
snacks to see what he would accept. Unfortunately Landon's go to comfort food
is Goldfish and there is not a Gluten Free option for this. We are finding that
changing his diet is a bit of a challenge. We cannot change it sufficient
enough or consistent enough to see any benefits from doing this.
The one thing we have done consistently is add supplements
and daily fiber to help with his digestive concerns. Landon is currently taking
daily doses of Metamucil, MiraLax, Fish Oil, Gummy Vitamins and Probiotics.
I am continuing to do research about a Gluten Free diet and
what are the best ways to transition with a child with eating issues.
Hey if you want to try any Gluten free breads let me know . . . I believe my cook book for the bread maker has recipes for some.
