Quinn is finally starting to gain weight from the new
special formula. Now that the holidays have passed we have decided yet again to
attempt baby food. I bought an organic brown rice and a few organic
veggie/fruit combos to try with her. The GI doctor had suggested we also add
olive or coconut oil to her food to boost her calorie and fat intake. Quinn
enjoys her cereal mixed directly with her veggie/fruit puree. The past week we
have been feeding Quinn two times a day. She usually gets cereal with either
squash/pear combo or a sweet potato/apple puree. So far things have been going
really well and by adding a consistent schedule with solids we are limiting our
need for the extra formula. Digestively things are going well and her overall demeanor
has been positive.
I have just recently been working on self feeding with Quinn
and I have been introducing sweet potato puffs. She is great at picking them up
but she seems more interested in playing with them then eating them. I have
broken them up into smaller pieces to place in her mouth but she is still
pushing them out with her tongue. I am not too concerned since we are just
starting this process a little later then suggested. Quinn goes for her weekly
weight check at the end of this week and mommy is hoping for a good strong
weight gain since we have been eating solids for a week!
