First Day of Pre-School!

Today was Landon's first day of pre-school!  We did our best to talk about school the past few days and to read him his social story with pictures of his new school and teachers so he would be prepared!  Nana came over this morning to help and join in the fun!  We talked all about school this morning as we go dressed and loaded up the car.  I even had him attempt using the big boy potty as practice.  They will encourage him everyday to use the potty at school so Ben and I want to work on using it at home as well.  Today I chose to walk Landon to his classroom instead of the usual drop-off.  He did really great walking towards his classroom, no tears.  As soon as we got closer to his classroom the water works began.  I stayed as calm as I could even though I wanted to shed a tear with him.  We practiced his morning routine: hang up coat and backpack, take snack out of bag, drop in snack box and in to class we go.  I said good-bye, gave him a big squeeze and walked away from a very upset 3 year old.  We made sure we were in the drop off line near the front so he could see my face as soon as he walked out.  We had his juice and french fries ready to go for him!!

He of course came out with tears but the volunteer that walked him out said that he had a GREAT first day!! Here is my little man with a sad face enjoying his french fries!!

We tried asking him questions in the car to see if I could get any information on his day at school but he just stared and ate his fries in silence. I cannot wait for him to talk my ear off one day about his school day. But for now I would be happy just to hear one word "fun!" I have prepared a pocket chart for Landon to work off of in the morning to help make our routine before school a little easier when Nana is not there to help us.

Going to school everyday will be an adjustment for my buddy but I know each day will get a little easier!!
