In the mouth it goes! |
My baby girl loves her Rice Mum's!
We
had Quinn evaluated by the Early Intervention a month ago and a team of ladies
came to the house to observe our baby girl. After an hour it was decided that
Quinn would receive services twice a month from a nutritionist, developmental
therapist and speech. She had some minor developmental and speech delays. Her
weight and eating were the biggest concerns. Quinn is currently in the 5th
percentile for weight at 16lbs 11 oz. The nutritionist informed us that she
should be gaining 2-3oz a week. Well, that is not happening. Quinn barely
gained 2 oz in two weeks when the nutritionist was here last week. Quinn now
will have 1tsp of coconut oil added to her breakfast and dinner meals to boost
her calorie and healthy fat intake. We are also encouraged to give her a Mum or
Graham Cracker (Annie's Organic had no milk, soy, or eggs!) before each meal
for her to explore. Quinn has no problem tasting the cracker or Mum. She is not
a big fan of when she gets a piece in her mouth. She usually pushes that out
with her tongue. But she does go back for a second and third try so we are
heading in the correct direction. She takes the coconut oil ok as long as it is
well mixed in her food. If she can taste it she will reluctantly attempt
another bite. She still is eating her same baby food purees and we have
attempted to add a new fruit/veggie combo every 3-5 days.
Quinn
is headed back to the Allergist for a 2nd round of Allergy testing in April. We
are hoping to get a better idea of all the foods she is allergic to!
