Allergy Testing-Landon

We had originally scheduled Landon's yearly allergy testing in November but after the trouble we went through a few weeks back with his asthma we decided to have him re-tested sooner.  A few days after Labor Day Landon was struggling with his asthma again.  By the Friday he could barely go two hours after a neb treatment without needing another dose of meds.  We took him to see the allergist right away and started a dose of oral steroids and more breathing treatments.  At that time we had not heard about the respiratory virus that was going around but when we went back for a follow-up and allergy testing the allergist had informed me he thinks Landon did have the virus.

We decided to have Landon skin tested on environmental allergies, cat's, dog's rabbits, and peanuts.  Within in a few minutes Landon's two past allergies; cat's and peanuts were visibly noticeable.  Along with a new one: Midwest tree's!  Within in 10 minutes of the test grass reacted as well as a small showing of weeds.  Poor kid!  New allergies within less then a year.  These outdoor allergies were not visible during his testing a year ago.

A couple of week's ago Landon was on a lot of medication with his allergies and asthma.  Of course both school and home we were having a few behavioral side-effects.  Landon has quicker meltdowns which can last longer and be a bit more intense.  He is also very emotional and an increase in self stimulation.  I informed school and of course his teacher to make sure we could all work through this together.  Some days were worse than others.  Last week we dropped back on quite a few of his medications and currently he is just on the once a day singular.  This is suppose to help with both the allergies and the asthma.  We noticed a positive change in Landon's behavior as the week progressed on.  So far it looks as if less medication is working well for our buddy.  We will continue to monitor his health and behavior over the next couple of weeks to see if the Singular will work for him.

I was given a few suggestion on essential oils to help Landon with his allergies, asthma, and GI issues.  I am currently doing more research to see what the benefits of these are with those on the Autism Spectrum.  As you know I follow many Autism blogs and enjoy asking questions to other Autism families.  As always I have an open ear for new ideas!
